The Best Russian Contemporary Artists (Art Index) is a list (unranked art rating) of artists from Russia and the Russian abroad, no older than 1960, compiled on the basis of indicators for evaluating achievements, popularity, creative activity of authors (titles, awards of artists, participation in exhibitions, fairs, auctions, mention in art -ratings, the presence of works in museum collections, etc.).

Authors can also be included in the list of the Best contemporary artists according to expert recommendations, which allows the art community to discover new talents.

The Art Index makes every effort to ensure the objectivity of the generated list, however, in any case, the list reflects only the subjective position of the compilers.

The maximum number of names in the List is 500 authors (Top 500). The list is open and up-to-date. The Art Index is considering proposals for the inclusion of authors in the list of The Best Russian Contemporary Artists.

The Art Index is primarily aimed at collectors and all connoisseurs of modern fine art.

Pavel Pukhov included in the list of the Best Russian contemporary artists (ARTEEX). The most famous street artist of Russia (exc. The Museum of street-art , SPb) Pavel Pukhov, who worked under the nick-name Pasha 183 (P183), became famous all over the world in 2012 , after some publications in foreign press , including The Guardian, The Huffington Post, The Telegraph. Pavel Pykhov became famous for his graffiti, street installations and paintings. . In 2013 in the suburbs of Paris, he showed his paintings for the first time on the joint exhibition with a French artist Nebay, within festival RussenKo. P183 is also famous as a creator of decorations in street-art style in rock-opera «TODD», performed in 2012. The characteristic feature of Pasha’s 183 art was the harmonious combination of street entourage with bright concise images. Pavel’s art has had a great influence on perception of street-art in Russia, having clearly demonstrated that the act of infiltration expanse into town space can be the artistic outgiving in full value. The artist died of heart failure at the age of 29 years old in 2013. After his death the British artist Banksy dedicated his work "P183. R.I.P" to Pavel. The works created by Pavel 183 beyond streets are in private collections in Moscow, Sankt-Petersburg, Paris and London. Retrospective exhibitions, devoted to Pavel Pukhov’s art, took place in the Moscow museum of modern art (2014) and the Sankt-Petersburg museum of street-art (2018-2019). The exhibition in the north capital lasted for more than 4 months and was prolonged for one more week because of its popularity.
