About

Yulia Mamontova is part of the list of the Best Russian contemporary artists (ARTEEX). She studied at St. Martin's Central College of Art and Design (London), Otis College of Art and Design (Los Angeles). Graduated from the Surikov Moscow State Academy of Fine Arts (Moscow). Member of the International Association of Encausts IEA and the Eurasian Art Union. "Artist of the Year" in the International Awards "Art&Business Awards 2019" according to the magazine "Women's Time" version. The study of the art traditions of different countries, the love of historical heritage and life in all its manifestations, the continuous search for new images distinguish Yulia Mamontova among modern authors. Yulia manages to combine classic, modern, and almost forgotten ancient techniques. She uses new forms, techniques and materials (mixmedia, layering, collage, sculpture, wax paints and hot tools), creating bright textured works on a variety of bases – from wood to metal. One of the main themes of the artist's work is the revival of cultures and art of different eras, the popularization of forgotten knowledge. As an expert in encaustics (an ancient method of painting with hot beeswax with resin and pigments), Yulia Mamontova strives to revive this artistic technique, taking into account all the subtleties and secrets, is engaged in the development of this rare direction, organizes international exhibitions, conducts training. "The work of Yulia Mamontova on the revival of the ancient painting technique" encaustic" in Russia is a valuable experience of historical reconstruction and will undoubtedly expand the range of visual means of modern artists, " said Academician Grigory Ginzburg. Participant of the 8th Moscow International Biennale of Contemporary Art, Russian and international exhibitions (Denmark, Italy, Slovenia, USA, Czech Republic, Switzerland). His works are in private collections in Russia, Turkey, Greece, the United States, and Saudi Arabia.
