THE BEST RUSSIAN CONTEMPORARY ARTIST

The Best Russian Contemporary Artists (Art Index) is a list (unranked art rating) of artists from Russia and the Russian abroad, no older than 1960, compiled on the basis of indicators for evaluating achievements, popularity, creative activity of authors (titles, awards of artists, participation in exhibitions, fairs, auctions, mention in art -ratings, the presence of works in museum collections, etc.).

Authors can also be included in the list of the Best contemporary artists according to expert recommendations, which allows the art community to discover new talents.

The Art Index makes every effort to ensure the objectivity of the generated list, however, in any case, the list reflects only the subjective position of the compilers.

The maximum number of names in the List is 500 authors (Top 500). The list is open and up-to-date. The Art Index is considering proposals for the inclusion of authors in the list of The Best Russian Contemporary Artists.

The Art Index is primarily aimed at collectors and all connoisseurs of modern fine art.

About

MishMash Art duet included in the list of the Best Russian contemporary artists (ARTEEX). Misha Leykin was born in 1968; in 1994, he graduated from Moscow institute of Architects. Masha Sumnina was born in 1977; in 2001, she graduated from Moscow institute of Printing Arts. In 2000, our creative ideas grew into bonds of marriage, and since that time, we have been MishMash. The phrase "mishmash" is translated into Russian as hash, confusion. In our works, we involve uncontrolled powers – wind, mold, water, a spectator, etc., analyzing relationship between chaos and order. Nobody ever knows what form they will take— actions, installations, paintings, sculptures, of a bread tower or a huge inflatable face. The whole list of their works can be seen on the site www.mishmash.ru The finalists of the Kandinsky Prize (2007, 2014, 2015, 2016), short-list of the prize «Innovation» (2011), the finalists of the contest to collect money for the monument to residents of New Jersey state who died 9/11 (2003) and for the Memorial to residents of the Staten Island who died 9/11 (2002). Terna Award winners (2013). Artists of the year Cosmoscow 2019. Winners of the competition public- art for Skolkovo (2018). Participants of a special programme of the 6th Moscow Biennale of contemporary art (2015), parallel programme Biennale Manifesto 10 (Sankt-Petersburg, 2014).
