About

Timophey Radya included in the list of the Best Russian contemporary artists (ARTEEX). An artist from Ekaterinburg (who graduated from philosophy faculty of Urals University) Timophey Radya has gained a special affinity long ago because of his works. He got a real respect of artists throughout the world after the project «Eternal flame », which presented soldiers’ faces, burned on the wall of a deserted hospital. The plots of «Banksy from Ekaterinburg »carry the social subtext and harsh political criticism. Messages on roofs of houses is an invitation to start a dialogue, and the opponent is the society. Timophey has a perfect sense of concision: he puts so many meanings into two words, that some other people can put the same in conversations for a week. For example, his work «You are seen » on the roof of a building in Ekaterinburg makes curious minds guess about the target audience for the message. Was the phrase for bored plane passengers? Spy drones. Random users of Google Maps? One more famous work — «I would embrace you, but I am just a text ».On one hand it can become a manifesto for those who fell in love by e-mail, who haven’t seen each other. But there is another concept: the work looks like a curtsy to contemplations about art in the ХХ century. When Rene Magritt wrote on the pipe «it isn’t a pipe », he just emphasized that the painting existed by itself, and had nothing to do with an object like a pipe. So a text about embracements can never substitute hugs ». Life of most artist’s masterpieces is relentlessly short, but the most important thing is that any of them has caught somebody’s eye and heart. Based on materials by O.Mayakov, daily.afisha.ru
